  Yesterday Saturday the 10th July was one eating out experience that I will never forget. First the 4 of us, my wife and two local friends went out for the day in Maleny. The weather was beautiful and we stopped in at the Maleny Diner for Lunch, coffee and cake. The food was fine, but when it came to dessert and my wife and I proceeded to the counter to pick out a slice of cake each to have with a coffee. I was told by the girl behind the counter that I couldn't have the piece that I had pointed too. (I had chosen a piece of cake next to the end piece of cake.) I thought she was joking because she was telling me with a smile on her face, She came around the front of the counter to where I was pointing and proceeded to tell me if she gave everybody the piece that they wanted she would never sell the ends of the cake, and at $4.50 a slice, that I shouldn't complain. (she said exactly "at $4,50 who's complaining?") I then said but if everybody chooses their piece they want then nobody would know what those pieces were and they would choose only the piece that is left. She wasn't going to let me have the piece that I wanted, so my wife got the piece that the counter girl chose and a coffee. I myself chose to test the new hospitality standards of the industry and went to the Maleny Bakery a few doors down. I then ask the girl behind the bakery counter if I could have the cream bun in the middle of the row of six and she said, sure and handed me my CHOSEN cream bun. THANKYOU for showing me that not all customer service has died. What a shame about the Maleny Diner. We have eaten there many times before for breakfast as I said our friends are local. But now we will continue to try the new restaurants and cafés that are forever popping up around the Maleny diner. Sorry but you have now been BLACKLISTED from my list of establishments to spend my hard earned money at. It was a sweet cake that left a sour taste in my wife's mouth.
